Fourpenny House La Mesa California

fourpenny house coming to la mesa village

Jefi catches up with Owner & Master Brewer Peter Soutowood.

What is Fourpenny House?

The vision behind Fourpenny House is that it is truly a “Public House”, La mesa is the perfect location for this concept which is truly about eating, drinking and having fun with your community! Fourpenny house is for everyone, a place that is not too noisy, with no TV’s, simply a place to eat, drink and most importantly enjoy the company that you’re surrounded with!

What will the menu be like?

Fourpenny House will specialize in bread, beer, and spirits (How could that get any better!?) With a rotating seasonal menu featuring only fresh ingredients, items like charcuterie, cheeses, craft pizzas, sandwiches, and desserts. In addition to that Peter Soutowood the owner of Fourpenny House and their master brewer will have an excellent rotating lineup of house brewed, unique beers.

Construction is currently underway in La Mesa Village, although the exact date is still up in the air, Fourpenny House is expected to open in late 2017, bringing a fresh new taste to the region. Over recent years La Mesa has become a true destination for foodies and beer drinkers with new restaurants and breweries popping up throughout the city. Just outside of the village you will find Helix and Bolt Breweries and just a short stroll down the boulevard from the future Fourpenny House is the new and very popular Farmers Table restaurant which focuses on farm to table food and craft drinks. Fourpenny House will set itself apart with unique flavors, from their scratch made breads to their unique beers, the plan is to craft mostly European style beers including a German wheat beer which is sure to be a top hit at the annual La Mesa Oktoberfest!

how’d fourpenny house choose la mesa?

Peter is a La Mesa resident, and he has seen the transformation of La Mesa as well as the resurgence of East County, Peter and his partners looked at data on neighborhoods throughout San Diego County and La Mesa was the obvious choice as residents begin to look east from neighborhoods like North Park and South Park. Peter is also a founding member of the newly formed La Mesa Village association which is non-profit that is dedicated to helping the small businesses of the La Mesa Village grow and thrive!
