Whether you’re of Irish descent or Irish at heart, on St. Patrick’s Day, everyone’s is entitled to celebrate in shamrock style and paint the town emerald green. To help you get in the spirit of the occasion, here’s a roundup of events suitable for every age.

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party & Pub Crawl

One of San Diego’s biggest parties of the year starts at Tin Roof. The celebration includes green beer, a St. Patty’s photo booth, live Irish music and DJs playing music all night long. Check in from 4 to 9 p.m. to receive a free wristband and welcome shot and set off to follow the pub crawl map to the remaining 10-plus entertainment sites in the Gaslamp Quarter. Your wristband gets you free access into an after party at one of the best nightclubs downtown (location TBA).

ShamROCK in the Gaslamp

The Gaslamp District will hop with Gaelic festivities Friday. Stroll the streets where you’ll find three different music stages and drink and food deals at several participating restaurants and bars in the heart of San Diego. Upgrade to a “Lucky Leprechaun” VIP ticket that includes admission, three drinks at the VIP bar and four drinks at various locations in the area, access to a VIP lounge and VIP restrooms, private entry and admission to a VIP stage featuring an exclusive lineup. St. Patrick’s Day at Hard Rock Hotel Bash

It’s easy to be green at the shamrockin’ Hard Rock Hotel Bash. Top San Diego DJs will spin tunes into the wee hours of the morning. The hotel will offer drink specials, including $4 draft beers and $5 vodka drinks throughout the night. Food will be available for purchase and attendees will receive a surprise party favor. For ages 21-and-up.

St. Pawtrick’s Yappy Hour

Head over to Cafe la Rue’s Yappy Hour with your four-legged friend to celebrate Ireland and its heritage. Festivities include Beer and Irish drink and menu specials, live music and complimentary doggie treats. Dress your furry companion in Irish garb and enter him or her in the doggie costume contest. Prizes for best-dressed dogs will be awarded.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Irish music, food and drink are all part of the St. Paddy’s Day celebration at The Quartyard. Partyers will stomp their feet to ear-catching melodies by Paul Chesne Band, Forkroot, Tah Rei and bagpiper Robert Burns. Curb your hunger pangs with menu items from Harvest Kitchen Gastrotruck.

St. Patrick’s 5K Color Run

Green is the color of the day at this 5K Color Run at Welk Resorts. Beware of hidden fairies and their antics along the route. They just may pop up and dust you with green powder. A pot o’ gold is at the end of the rainbow finish line. There will be live music on the main stage, a craft beer garden, and lots and lots of freebies. Top finishers will receive prizes. Partial proceeds from the event will benefit the Palomar Family YMCA.

St. Patrick’s Day Festival

Campland by the Bay’s inaugural St. Patrick’s Day Festival is chock full of family activities. Covering two days, happenings include live music, a best-dressed leprechaun contest, storytelling potato toss, fairy face painting, a leprechaun scavenger hunt and Irish dancing.

St. Patrick’s Family Festival

It’s a leprechaun palooza of shenanigans at Welk Resorts. This all-ages, family-friendly, two-day affair features five live bands, a 180-foot zip line, ferris wheel, roving circus acts, including a flying trapeze show. There’s also an exotic petting zoo, face painting, an ultimate scavenger hunt and Leprechaun Zorb Bowling. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.

St. Patrick’s Beer Train Trolley Tour

You can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all month long. San Diego Beer, Wine & Spirits Trolley Tour takes passengers on a beer quest to four brewery locations, each featuring four tasting flights, a light food pairing and behind-the scenes brewery access. The tour also includes more than a mile of historic guided walks through San Diego. Tours take place every day during the week between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets are $88 per person and does not include gratuity or the $7 trolley ticket.
